Toros will play at H-E-B Park

EDINBURG – When the RGVFC Toros take the field for the first at their new stadium they will be playing at H-E-B Park.

While announcing the partnership at the amphitheater that can seat 2,000 people team president Bert Garcia said when the team was looking for a partner they wanted something that everyone could relate to as well as a place most people visit once a week.

“It's not only about finding a partner,” Garcia said. “We all relate to H-E-B in the community.”

The partnership between the two entities has been two years in the making.

With the weather impacting construction there is no absolute time on to when the first game will be played but Garcia said there are still upgrades being made to the stadium as well as the east side of the park which includes a park for children and the amphitheater.

While there were about five suitors for naming the park Garcia said it wasn't about the money but finding the right partner. Details of the partnership were not made available but it will be long term.

“Money doesn't matter sometimes,” he said. “That brand of H-E-B will enhance the brand of the RGVFC Toros so you are going to start seeing Toros at every H-E-B store so it's going to remind you to come and see what's on the field.”

With the relationship as a feeder team to the Houston Dynamo there will be opportunities for not only the Dynamo to play here at H-E-B Park but also the Houston Dash, some Liga MX friendlies and concerts as well.

Sometimes it's difficult for families to leave the RGV to go and see sports entertainment, H-E-B Park will provide relief for fans. Before October there will be an announcement for the first concert at H-E-B Park.
