MISSION – The Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce will be having their first Chef's BBQ Throwdown & Car Show Saturday July 30 to raise funds for Mission and Sharyland school districts.

The event will begin at 3 p.m., will run until 8 p.m. and will take place at the chamber located 202 W. Tom Landry St.

While the event is free to attend those wanting to taste the food the chefs make will cost $10. To purchase tickets www.the-greater-mission-chamber-of-commerce.ticketleap.com. Tickets for tasting can also be purchased day of the event.

Restaurants already signed up for the event include House Wine and Bistro, Alberico Fine Wine, Bodega Tavern & Kitchen, Infusions Eats & Drinks, PJ Pies, Rio Grande Grill, The Orchard Lounge, Nuri Food Truck, Dairy Queen, Frankie Flav'z, Schneider's German Gasthaus & Beergarden, Casa Del Taco, City Cafe, RGV Catering & BBQ, Zamoras' Restaurant, Asedero Los Cabritos, Tapia's Bakery, Simply Delicious Catering & Event Planning and Vero's Cookies & More.

The teams will be led by a Chef and will be judged in the following categories including brisket, chicken, pork ribs, and chef's choice. H-E-B will provide the meat for the event. There will be $2,500 in cash prizes up for grabs.

There will be musical performances by Chris Marshall, Matt & The Herdsmen, Matthew Aaron Band and Midnight Run.

A car show will coincide with the event where those competing will win trophies.
