The City of Edinburg announces the return of FridaFest on Saturday, July 8, from 4 - 10 p.m in the Courtyard at Edinburg City Hall.

FridaFest offers an afternoon of Frida-themed crafts, merchandise, artists, artisans and plenty of food to choose from.

The festival will include a play by the Lucia Macias Theatre Company titled “Buscando a Frida” An Homage to Frida Kahlo in English and Spanish, along with a Frida Kahlo inspired Art Exhibition, live replicas of Frida’s paintings and the oh-so-popular Frida look-a-like contests for children and adults.

There will also be live music by The Dirty Birdies and DRAFT throughout the evening’s festivities.

FridaFest is an annual event hosted by the City of Edinburg in celebration of the Life of the renowned Mexican Artist, Frida Kahlo. Kahlo began painting in the late 1920s and is best known for her daring self-portraits depicting the suffering she experienced. Frida was the first Latin American artist whose work was purchased and exhibited in the Louvre Museum in Paris, France. She was a woman of strong character; she persevered in spite of her physical pain and emotional turmoil. She is now one of the most iconic female artists of all time and one of the most celebrated.

FridaFest 2017 is a free event that also lends support to local entrepreneurs. For more information on becoming a vendor at FridaFest, or answers on how to get involved, visit or contact Edinburg Arts at (956) 383-6246.
