WESLACO – Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David L. Fuentes was joined by City of Weslaco officials and members of the community to celebrate the completion of road improvements to Milano Road this morning.
The $920,000 project – which spans 1.75 miles, from U.S. Route 83 Business to 18th Street – was reconstructed to ease traffic flow among one of Weslaco’s growing areas.
“These improvements will assure an easier transit in and out of this road for residents and law enforcement,” said Fuentes. “I thank the City of Weslaco for their partnership, as we continue to work together to improve the quality of life of our residents.”
Fuentes said this is just the latest in collaborative projects.
“We continue to develop new partnerships, and have future projects already in the planning stages in Weslaco and the surrounding areas,” Fuentes said.
City of Weslaco Mayor David Suarez, who also serves as Fuentes’ chief of staff, said he looks forward to future partnership that benefit the community.
“We know this is a busy road, and now as you drive out of Milano Road, you no longer have to be swerving to avoid potholes and consequently be distracted,” said Suarez.
