The City of Edinburg, the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library and American Legion Post 408 invite the public to participate in the upcoming Veterans Day Parade. This annual event will take place on Saturday, November 10, at 10 a.m.

The Parade is open to anyone interested in participating. The only requirement is that participants complete a simple entry form of participation. Detailed information is required as it is used to announce the entries in the lineup during the parade. For more details stop by the library and pick up a form from Lucy Robinson. Entry forms are due by Wednesday, October 31.

Once again, the parade will feature a competition for the Most Patriotic Float. Only those using a pick-up truck bed, farm wagon, flatbed truck or trailer may enter the Float Competition. Vehicles smaller than a pick-up truck bed do not qualify for the competition. Judging will be based on overall appearance. Trophies will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners a $500 cash prize will be awarded to the school with the most patriotic float that focuses on our Veterans.

All political entries will be charged $250, please make checks payable to the Edinburg Arts Foundation. Monies collected will be used for the prizes and our Memorial Day ceremony. Political entries will be placed at the end of the parade to ensure the focus is on our support and gratitude to the service given by our Veterans to our country.

The parade will commence at Richard R. Flores Stadium on 1800 S. Stadium Dr. and Palm Dr. to end on McIntyre and 10th Street. All participants are asked to be at Richard R. Flores Stadium parking lot by 8:00 a.m. for parade lineup. If you would like to participate in the parade, contact Lucy Robinson at 956-383-6246 or stop by the library located at 1906 S.
