ALAMO - PSJA Memorial Early College High School Cross-Country athlete Cruz Gomez officially signed with the University of Texas at Austin during a special ceremony at the school today, Monday, Dec. 10.

Cruz is a three-time State UIL Track meet participant, winning double silver in 2018 in the 3200 and 1600 meter run. He is a four-time UIL State Cross-Country participant, placing 5th in the state in 2017 and 4th in 2018. He was named the Rio Grande Valley Cross-Country Athlete of the Year for 2018 and has been the only athlete from South Texas to win the prestigious McNeil Invitational and Footlocker South Regional. He received an at-large bid to compete in the Nike Cross-Country National Championships in Oregon, where he placed 13th, being one of five across the United States to be awarded this invite. 



PSJA Memorial Early College High School Seniors Victoria Mae Maldonado and Kristy Alanis signed a letter of intent to play softball with Texas A&M International University in Laredo this morning, Friday, Dec. 7 in front of their family, coaches and friends.

Victoria was 1st Team All-District Catcher in 2016 and the recipient of the PSJA Memorial Golden Glove Award that same year, which she also received in 2017. This year, she was awarded the PSJA Memorial Wendy Heisman trophy.

Kristy was also 1st Team All-District and 2nd Team All-Valley in 2016. That same year she received the PSJA Memorial Golden Glove Award. In 2017, she was the 31-6A Offensive MVP, 2nd Team All-Valley and school MVP.
