SAN JUAN – Former U.S. Congressman Ruben Hinojosa visited Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD’s new PSJA College & University Center on March 29.
Hinojosa toured the Health Science Wing of the facility alongside Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Vice President of Curriculum, Program Planning, and Faculty Affairs Dr. Rebecca Lynch for a potential partnership with the district’s Early College program.
“Congratulations to all of you, because [PSJA ISD is] the best of the best,” he stated to the PSJA team during the visit.
The learning tour was led by the district's College Readiness, and Career & Technical Education (CTE) teams.
The PSJA College & University Center is home to the PSJA Academies, which currently include 20 fields of studies in the following areas: School of Health Service and Public Service; School of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, or STEM; the School of Business and Industry; and the School of Arts and Humanities.
The facility also houses the PSJA Collegiate High School Program, where students wanting a smaller student-teacher ratio attend for the majority of the day, but continue to be part of athletic and fine arts extracurricular activities at their respective comprehensive high schools.
