Saddle up for this year’s Día de los Niños/Día de los Libros celebration at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library. Commonly referred to as Día, this celebration emphasizes the importance of literacy for children of all cultural backgrounds. This event will be held at the library on Wednesday, April 24, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Edinburg’s Día celebration is western theme and will include a special presentation from local author Patty York Raymond. Ms. Raymond is the author of the children’s books, “The ABCs to Ranching” and “It’s Too Windy!”

Following the presentation, the public is invited to participate in a variety of games, an arts and crafts activity, book giveaway, face painting, and refreshments. While not required, library staff does encourage patrons to dress in their best western wear.

This event is free and open to the public. For more information, please contact the Children’s Supervisor, Velma Vela, at 956.383.6246. Or visit us at 1906 S. Closner in Edinburg.
