McALLEN - McAllen High Senior, Aaron Nixon signed with The University of Texas’ baseball team, Wednesday, Nov. 13 at the McAllen High gymnasium.

The three-year McHi baseball player had family, friends and the support of his bulldogs baseball team at Wednesday’s national letter of intent (LOI) signing. Nixon has been playing at an early age and was even named Most Valuable Player after winning a national championship with his 11U baseball team at 11-years-old.

The longtime UT fan will officially play for his dream team as an incoming freshman and thanked family and special individuals with a prepared speech.

“Thank you everyone for coming out today for the baseball signing for UT,” he started. “It’s a big dream of mine ever since I was young and I want to thank my parents; mom you were always there for me as my number one fan and dad, thank you for teaching me great things and how everything works in baseball.”

Nixon went on to thank and recognize his varsity teammates as a McHi freshman who helped shape him into the player his now, as well as coaches and teachers along the way.

“It’s an emotional and happy time for our family,” said Beau Nixon, Aaron’s father. “I’m so proud of you in what you’ve accomplished…we practiced a lot and spent a lot of time together. We talked every day about baseball and I cherished every conversation I had with you.”

Wednesday's signing was indeed emotional as Nixon’s mother couldn’t help but cry tears of joy for her son.

“I told myself I wasn’t going to cry,” she said into the mic. “I’m super proud of you honey. I have no words but I am proud of you” she shared.

The McHi senior then signed the national LOI to play for The University of Texas, placing the cap atop his head as an official Longhorn player.
