A “Welcome Life

Conference” scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 5

p.m. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 2209 Kendlewood Ave. in

McAllen, will address some of the most pressing moral issues of our


Speakers for the

conference will include Bishop Daniel E. Flores along with Father

Matthew Habiger, OSB, Ph.D, a Benedictine monk and moral theologian

from Atchison, Kansas, and Dr. Martha Marie Garza, an obstetrician

/gynecologist from San Antonio.

The conference is

open to physicians, health professionals, clergy and ministers, and

Valley residents of all denominations.

conference will give Catholics and other Christians, as well as

other interested people in the Valley, an excellent opportunity to

learn more about the Catholic Churchís teachings on human life and

the benefits of being open to life and using Natural Family

The conference

will have two sessions, starting with a morning session at 8:30

a.m. on Aug. 21 for doctors and other health professionals. The

morning session will conclude with a lunch for the health

professionals with Bishop Flores, at noon. The afternoon session,

starting at 1:30 p.m., will be for all Valley residents interested

in this topic.

Fees for the

conference are $10 for the afternoon session for the general

public; $20 for the morning session.
