Top o’ the morning to you, and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day. May the wind be always at your back, and may you wear the green proudly today . . .
Best wishes to newlyweds Natalie Moore & Jason Lawrence, who were married last Saturday, March 13, 2010 . . .
McAllen will be well represented this year on the National Watermelon Promotion Board. Jimmy Henderson was elected first vice president at the board meeting in February in Dallas. Tony Anderson will serve on the executive committee representing District 6.
Congratulations to Ana Piña of Edinburg, who is the recipient of the Center for International Teaching & Learning (CITL) Leadership Program award from Goshem College in Indiana. Ana will be graduating from Idea College Preparatory and plans to study biology in college . . .
Saw Dossey Mitchell, Russell Wicker, and Charmaine Mitchell when we all played together in the “bridge at Cimarron” group — the first Tuesday of the month . . .
Fun was had by all, expecially John Young, who had the best hand I’ve ever seen — 30 points. All quick tricks and even distribution. (none of that will mean anything to you if you don’t play bridge, but trust me — it’s amazing!)
Also saw Phyllis Hendrix, Gerry Martindale, Keesha Zey, Candie Wicker, Paula Moxley, Sherry Gossett, and many others having a great time . . .
Thank you again to Bertha Hinojosa and McHi’s John Vasquez for some help with a scholarship committee . . .
Learned something from reading the McAllen Junior League newsletter’s article by “Bully Talk” Chair Heather Fallek. Parents (maybe grandparents, too) need to be aware of cyber-bullying, used to describe bullying online and by cell phone, which is an unfortunate part of our children’s world. For more information about bully prevention, visit www.olweus.org . . .
Congratulations to the following McAllen Junior Leaguers who attended last week’s AJLI convention in Charlotte, North Carolina, on organizational development: April Chapa, Heather Marks, Linda Requenez, and Michelle Palacios . . .
For yesterday, happy birthday wishes go out to James Landez, Noel Faubion, William Faubion, Flo Henderson, Leigh Wooldridge, Bynn Hornbuckle, and Stephanie R. Godinez. And a happy green anniversary today goes out to Linda & Jim Miller . . .
For tomorrow, happy birthday to Diana Rodriguez and Jeannette Hawkins . . .
Note to all readers: the following phone number is not the newspaper’s phone number; it is a number just for this column. Call in your “I See You” news to 686-8056, or mail to the Town Crier. Remember, at least one week ahead!
