St. Joseph Church is having their second annual festival benefiting the new building they are trying to build on the corner of 10th Street and Sprague Street. The festival will be held at the site of the new building.

The event will take place on April 23 and 24.

"This is why we're having our second festival," Msgr. Robert E. Maher said. "The cost to build a beautiful building, inspiring church that can be a 21st century spiritual home for the people of the Edinburg area is $6 million."

The church needs to raise $3 million and the rest will be financed.

At the event there will also be a cook off show down. The categories will be fajitas and chicken on Friday and Chili, Brisket and Pork Ribs on Saturday. There will also be a Pan de Campo Jackpot the will pay 75 percent of the pot. Entry fee is $500 for all of the events or $250 per category.

The parish is also having a raffle for $25 a ticket. The grand prize will be a choice of a 2010 Chevy Crew Cab Silverado Truck or Malibu Car.
