As we head into the New Year, many of us make resolutions to become more active, eat healthier, and perhaps live a little more lightly on this earth. Make your resolutions come true this Spring by becoming an Edinburg Community Gardener.

The spring season starts this month with the Edinburg Community Garden Orientation and Refresher Course on Jan. 10 at 10 a.m. at the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center. After the refresher course, five additional gardening classes and programs will be offered through the season.

In addition, gardeners will have full access to a four-foot by eight-foot raised bed, a communal shed, drip irrigation system, mulch, and tools for the duration of the five-month season.

If you ever wanted to grow organic fruits and vegetables but didnít have the space, time or knowledge this is a wonderful opportunity to learn in a fun, friendly, hands-on way. Topics to be covered include: Organic Gardening, How to Harvest, Care and Maintenance of Citrus Trees, Rose Care & Maintenance, Container Gardening and Preserving the Harvest.
