EDINBURG – Friends of the Edinburg Library sponsor art classes at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library. Art classes will be taught by artist Rommy Guevara. Classes will be held twice a day Monday thru Thursday from 10 - 11 a.m. and 6 - 7 p.m. for ages 13 and up. These classes start on Monday, August 1, 2011 and will run for a total of 6 weeks. They are free of charge; however, there is a fee of $20.00 for supplies.
Teaching the classes will be Instructor, Rommy Guevara. He is originally from Ajijic, Jalisco, Mexico and is currently residing in the City of Edinburg. Mr. Guevara is an accomplished contemporary artist, whose talent includes a wide range of styles and techniques and subject matters. Mr. Guevara is a skillful artist who does not limit himself to using one medium; his work includes oil, acrylic, and watercolor works of art. Mr. Guevara's work has been exhibited throughout Mexico and parts of the United States.
Beginners are encouraged to take advantage of this perfect opportunity; learn the easy stuff and go on to the more advanced techniques. However, it does not matter whether you are a beginner or an experienced artist, everyone is encourage to come join the fun as we learn the basics and quickly progress on to the art of color mixing which is an essential part of learning to paint and finally to actually painting a picture that you will be able to take home and enjoy.
These types of classes are very popular so don't delay in registering since it is on a first come first serve basis.
The art classes are sponsored by the Friends of the Library, a non-profit organization committed to the support of the Dustin M. Sekula Memorial Library through advocacy, volunteerism and giving, in an effort to positively impact the citizens of Edinburg and the surrounding communities.
