Dr. Delores Reed Sanders Hausenfluck

Dr. Delores Reed Sanders Hausenfluck, age 71, passed away on Friday, Feb. 6. She was born on Aug. 19, 1937, in Mountain Park , Okla., to William and Susie (Barker) Reed.

Delores graduated from Cache High School , Cache, Okla. She continued her education at Cameron University, Lawton, Okla. , and later received a Doctorate of Philosophy from Oklahoma State University in 1974. She moved to the Rio Grande Valley in 1974 and was a Professor at the University of Texas-Pan American until her retirement.

Delores was a member of the First Christian Church of Edinburg and volunteered at the McAllen Heart Hospital.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Lee Sanders and Frank Hausenfluck, Sr.

She is survived by a son, Ed Sanders and wife, Yvonne of Harlingen; two

sisters, Paula Smith and her husband, Rick of Portland, Tex., and Mary McFadden and husband, Bob of Blair, Okla. She was a doting grandmother to one grandson, Edward Sanders, and one granddaughter, Samantha Sanders. She was known as the fun-loving “Aunt Cissy” to two nephews, Michael Redden and Brian Smith, two nieces, Suzanne Copeland and Paige Teel, two great nephews, Kade and Kody, and three great nieces, Lauren, Brooklyn and Lacy, numerous friends and colleagues, especially the “Lunch Bunch” from Pan Am.

Aunt Cissy provided unlimited love and encouragement to all her family and friends. Her zest for life and love of people will be missed by many.

Memorial services were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 10, at the First Christian Church in Edinburg with Dr. Samuel Simon officiating. Interment will be held at a later date in Altus, Okla.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church, 410 West University, Edinburg, TX 78539.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care of Skinner Silva Funeral Home of Edinburg.
