Welcome Home! It's hard to believe it's that time of year again! October is always a challenging month for us at Welcome Home, RGV - as we tie up the loose ends and get ready to trade in our file folders, rate cards and spec sheets for bingo cards, raffle tickets, coupon books, and t-shirts. The summer wasn't all work, we managed to put in some play time with our Converted Texan friends, although definitely not as much as I would have liked!
It's always fun to chat with you guys, as I never know what I'll learn about next. I always try to pay good attention, and listen, rather than just hear, and one conversation over the summer has stuck with me. I wish I knew her name or where she was from - but the lady who looked me square in the eye and said "Thank you for having the guts to do all this", is definitely someone I would like to spend more time with. Not because I want to hear her say thank you again - but because ten bucks says that she has more "guts" than I do. And that's the kind of person I like to talk to, learn and get advice from.
She's right, now that I think about it. I did have guts, to go after it, build this project, dump every penny I had into it, and borrow an awful lot of my daddy's pennies as well to keep it going. At the time I wouldn't have called it guts so much as blind faith. I certainly didn't feel gutsy, half the time I was scared to death - wondering how in the world this company would make it through the next week, let alone month. I just knew that what I was doing was important, and that so many of you appreciated being appreciated and taken care of - and to me that was the fuel that kept the fire going. So with that being said, as we enter our fourth season of being in business, I'd like to invite you to celebrate with us! We absolutely love to hear from you, so stop by and see us at the Welcome Home, RGV booth at the Don-Wes this season or drop me a line at email@example.com.
Hope to see you real soon,
