Warming up for the game Tuesday, the Lady Bobcats knew that it was time to get it together. Though they had climbed to 7-3 in District 31-5A, they hadnít been hitting much or making the routine plays the past two outings, barely getting past a woeful P-SJ-A team after being hammered by league leader Harlingen.
That made Tuesdayís road game against Econ of vital importance and as it has done several times this season, EHS came through to keep playoff hopes alive. Freshman Kassy Rodriguez singled three times and stole three bases to lead a powerful attack that dispatched the Lady Jags, 15-0 in four innings.
LeeAnne Hinojosa, who had experienced control problems her last two starts, took advantage of the offensive explosion (the teamís second highest run total of 2009, next to the 17 it hung on Brownsville Hanna early in the slate). She was around the plate throughout, giving up two hits and walking none, getting the win as EHS rounded into the district
