They had three chances inside the 20 but came away empty, with the last opportunity misfiring in the final 28 seconds, and as a result the Bobcats lost to Pharr North 14-7 Friday.

Now 0-2 in district and 2-3 overall, the ‘Cats take a 3-game losing streak into the matchup with Edinburg North this week. They drove to the 12 in the waning minutes with a 44-yard bomb from Ramon Enriquez to Sal Martinez but turned it over on the next play to seal the deal to the negative.

Edinburg had good offensive success with 348 total yards but managed just one TD, a long run by Arnie Alvarado, who broke the 100-yard mark on just 12 carries. Martinez had a controversial fumble into the end zone in the fourth period and later, with starter Alex Cantu injured, Enriquez came on to rally the team. But his pass to tight end Zach Faires was intercepted at the 1 as the game saw its completion.

Linebacker Adam Alonzo led the defensive effort with 15 tackles and the Bobcats shut out the Raiders (2-0, 4-1) in the second half, limiting the powerful rushing attack to 251 yards.

EHS suffered through 90 yards of penalties and committed four turnovers on the night.
